Turbo Tax Online - a Fast and Easy Tax Solution

If you're like me, you hate doing taxes. It's time-consuming, and since you actually work for a living, you won't be getting much back. But you would love to get as much of your hard-earned money back as is possible, right? I've always been the type to struggle through the 1040EZ; mutilating it with my complex calculations, locating a stamp, mailing it to the closest office and waiting approximately six weeks to receive a reply from the IRS telling me that I had added wrong, but don't worry, they will fix it for me, it will just be another three to five weeks before I get my $99 refund.

As I have been working with computers for years, it finally hit me this one to look into ways of doing my taxes online. The name TurboTax jumped out at me in response to a Google search. I don't remember having been so successfully marketed to, though a faint image of a display in Best Buy came to mind when I saw the red, white and blue "packaging" of the website. Upon learning that TurboTax was an Intuit product, I was immediately at ease. After all, I use QuickBooks for my home accounting needs, and love it.

I started by creating an account over a secure server so that I could save my progress and return later, should I wish to step out and grab a burger or see a movie. It is not necessary to create an account immediately, however; I could have chosen the option to "Jump Right In". The attractive interface of the program first asked me to select from a list of options relating to my life situation- this would allow the program the opportunity to gather additional information with the goal of getting me the best refund possible. I chose "I changed jobs in 2007". The program assured me that, "TurboTax can handle as many W-2s as you have employers. No matter how much you're earning now, we'll maximize your deductions so you can keep more of it."

The next step was to fill out the appropriate information to file my federal return. The program walked me through step by step, always making sure that the information provided added up properly and alerting me to any errors or discrepancies. The program asked detailed questions aimed at getting me the maximum deduction and highest return possible. I was walked through my New Mexico state return in the same manner, electronically signed by providing my Adjusted Gross Income from last year's return, and received emailed verification of acceptance of both returns. Within three days I received a deposit for my federal return, and received my state return three days after that! I am very pleased with TurboTax online and all of Intuit's great products, and highly recommend them to everyone.
