TurboTax 2007 Review

Yes, it is that time of the year again and taxes are certainly on many of people's minds. Some will enjoy what they believe to be the gift of a refund from the government, while others will certainly be parting with their hard-earned cash. Regardless of where you stand in the grand scheme of the tax system, you will certainly benefit from having great tax preparation software in your corner.

TurboTax is tax preparation software created by Intuit, which is one of the leaders in financial management worldwide. TurboTax is quite simply a very simple to use software package that will prepare your taxes for you. All that you have to do is follow the prompts and the software does all of the work completing the forms. One of the great features of the TurboTax software is that it finds any deductions or credits that you may be entitled to. I found that TurboTax found many deductions for me over the years that I would have not even thought of looking for.

The tax software will even complete the necessary supporting forms for you. TurboTax allows you to take advantage of e-filing as well. This is a great benefit for those people looking to get their refunds a little quicker than submitting them through the mail. At the TurboTax website, filing your Federal Income Tax is free as long as you are filing a simple return such as the 1040ez.

However, filing your state taxes is an additional cost. Personally, I like to take advantage of the many deductions and credits that come with either the 1040a or even an itemized tax form. The software when purchased is very reasonably priced and it is guaranteed to optimize your claim. Nevertheless, even when you purchase the software it is essentially free because your tax preparation software is tax deductible.

I have used the TurboTax software by Intuit every year for about five years now and it is the best I have come across. I simply do not know how I got along all those years filing my taxes by hand and now I do not have to thanks to Intuit and their great TurboTax software.

I have used TurboTax for years too, and usually am happy with it. However, in 2007 I did not feel that TurboTax did a good job in looking for deductions. It completely missed the possibility of a SEP IRA for my wife's business, which we discovered by accident. This made hundreds of dollars' worth of difference in our taxes due.

I am very unhappy with Turbo Tax 2007. I does not work well at all on a Macintosh. It enters number on lines I did not enter. I tried it 7 times and it was wrong every time. The on line help knows nothing what so ever as to how to advise you on the Mac. The first operator hung up on me and the second one told me to try a PC. A lot of help that was, NOT ! So if you have a Mac DO NOT BUY this product.

I was glad to read that you like Turbo. I used it for the first time last year and was very pleased. I'll use it again this year too. In fact, I should seriously think about getting started.

Hi, it's me, as Momie would say, "I'm jus t using a different computer right now." To add to the excellent info, people making about $35,000 or less, if they have kids, can get their taxes done free by trained volunteers ..... people like retired tax preparers and accountants. This is called VITA, or Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, and often is coordinated through the local United Way office and./or public libraries and/or community action agencies. People making $600/$700 per week often think that's too much for the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Care and Development Tax Credit, t he simple Child Tax Credit, but it's not. www.cbpp.org/eic2008/ is a great site. Thanks, Nick.

You are my techno-guru. I will pass this info to my accountant. I don't count beans. Probably why I'm always broke. LOL. Nice job on the write-up and review.

There are several versions available, and I am sure that you can find the right one for you. Regardless, of which one you use, they are still tax deductable.
