Now I know both should give you the same basic format and maybe they are similar, but I tried both to see if there were any significant differences and there were. You would think there could not be that many differences between the two, because they both have to do the same thing for you, they need to accurately and easily help you complete your obligation to the IRS. Here are a few points I noticed about the TurboTax product:
1. With TurboTax, I could easily go back and re-visit any section very easily. I can't say that for H&R Block.
2. TurboTax is so easy to use that a complete novice can easily complete their taxes.
3. There are plenty of help resources every step of the way should you have any questions or problems.
4. If you donate anything to charity, they have an outstanding calculator to help you get the most value for your donated items.
5. The error check at the end will help you not only find errors, but shows you exactly what to fix.
There are so many great features this year I could mention that I could write about them here for an hour at least. This product in my opinion is the best out there. Every time I would think of something I wanted to re-check, I could instantly go back to any point to review or revise whatever it was I thought needed attention. It is a very easy to navigate program. This alone makes it worth the money to me.
During 2007 I both bought a house and sold a house and TurboTax made it very easy to do all of the proper calculations. It asked everything for the interest I paid to the property taxes. The same was true for my online business. This program is set up to handle almost every possible situation with ease. Submitting my completed taxes for both Federal and State was also easy and painless. Let me also add that I submitted my taxes with TurboTax at approximately 9:30pm, and when I checked the next morning both the Federal and State had been accepted. I was finished with my 2007 taxes, and it was not even the first of February yet. Any program that can do that will have me as a repeat customer.
