Turkey Crafts for Thanksgiving

S. Morris
Thanksgiving is a warm and fun holiday. Keeping kids occupied while we cook, reminisce, and catch up with our family, will help the holiday run more smoothly.Listed here a couple great ideas to get you started.

Pine cone Turkeys

A fun and nature filled craft.

What you will need:

- Pine cones(ranging from small to large).

- Fake feathers that are Fall colored.

- Construction paper in light brown.

- Glue.

- Glitter.

- Googly eyes.

*All these items can be found at your local craft store or Walmart.

Lets get started:

Step 1. Start be gathering all the needed items together. As my previous posted craft, Thanksgiving Turkey Hand Paper Craft, spread out newspaper on your kitchen floor.

Step 2. Now have everyone start by picking out a pine cone or even a few different sizes to create their family. Then have them cut out their turkey head, pick the feathers out, etc.

Step 3. Have each child glue the googly eyes on each side of the head the cut, draw a mouth, and they can color them. Have them set those aside to dry. Then they can get any of the other gluing done also such as, the feathers and glitter.

Step 4. Now they can glue the necks to the pine cones. Set the turkeys aside and let dry. While this happens they can start the next craft.

Tape the feathers on the turkey

Each year pin the tail on the donkey has become a hit at parties, mainly birthday parties. Now I have a fun and easy craft that you can make at home for Thanksgiving. Tape the feathers on the turkey! It will soon be a tradition for families every year!

What you will need:

- Poster board( a $1 at your local Dollar Tree).

- Glue .

-Scissors.

- Glitter.

- Fall colored construction paper(Reds, browns, golds, oranges, etc.).

- Tape.

- A pin.

-Blindfold.( Made out of an old fall colored wash cloth works).
Lets get started:

Step 1. Taking the fall colored construction paper have the kids start cutting out feathers. Having a few ready for them to follow along to may make it easier for them. Then you can cut out the turkeys parts. It works well when you cut pieces on by one to make it bigger.

Step 2. Glue the parts together on the poster board. Then let the kids decorate the turkey. Pin to the wall to dry.

Step 3. Cut off enough tape for each kid. A small piece that's just enough to tape the feathers to the turkey. It is a safer alternative to the pin. This way many ages can enjoy!

Step 4. Now you can check on the turkeys, if they are dry, set around the house for decoration.

Step 5: Let them enjoy time playing pin the feathers on the turkey!

* To make it even more exciting involve prizes!( Candy, small toys, etc)

Happy Thanksgiving!

* This is also a craft that will be included into the picture slideshow I will be submitting closer to Thanksgiving!
