Last month, we got given some herbs by a friend who works at a health food store. Among the bottles were Turmeric with Bromelain. I decided that I would try it for the knee pain after researching it for hours. I took three capsules three times a day as was the recommendations from the research. I did not expect it to work since nothing else had.
Four days later I woke up and realized my knee didn't hurt. I thanked God for some relief but expected it at any moment to return. This is a month later and the pain is still gone. It has been such a beautiful gift to walk the dogs without pain, to turn in bed without pain, and just be able to move pain free. My partner who was supposed to have knee replacement surgery has had almost 70% relief. My youngest daughter who was recently diagnosed with Lupus has had considerable relief from pain in joints and her whole body. I have been amazed at what it has done in our family.
Turmeric is the yellow spice in mustard and curry. Its active ingredient is Curcumin.. Turmeric (Curcuma longa), a flowering plant in the ginger family, has been long used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine as an anti-inflammatory agent, a remedy for digestive disorders and liver problems, and as an effective treatment for skin diseases and wound healing.
Today, in a large number of scientific studies, Turmeric is being investigated in the United States for these medicinal properties, particularly its ability to reduce inflammation in patients with inflammatory rheumatic disease.
Research shows that Curcumin is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activity and that investigators are studying a potential role of curcumin against cancer, Alzheimer's disease, psoriasis and cystic fibrosis.
Research Turmeric on the internet and you will find many comments and some studies that show how well it works in relieving knee pain. Turmeric and Bromelain is the best combination because the Bromelain also acts as an inflammatory agent. There are few companies that sell the two together. The one I take is manufactured by Natural Factors and I buy it online. At the health food store it cost almost 20 dollars but online when I buy 6, it costs only $9.85. That is a huge savings when both my partner and I take it.
Turmeric is on the FDA's safe (GRAS) list and is considered a safe health food when recommended supplement doses are not exceeded. However, pregnant women and anyone with gallstones should avoid taking turmeric unless under a doctor's supervision
This article is just to share this information. I have gone over a year in severe knee pain and nothing I tried worked. The only other choice was high powered pain medicine which I cannot handle and don't believe in. This demonstrates that often there is an answer other than surgery or pain medicine but it takes experimentation to find the answer. I do hope that this might help some of you reading this article and are suffering. I thank God every day that I can walk without pain now.
