Turmoil of the Sea

Jose Zuniga

"I hurt" she says

cold waves invading my feet--

a plea

but what can I do

in this salty breeze?

And if I fail to move?

I ask of her

soft white foam

forming along the shore

"Then," says she, "You will see

more of me

coalesced--cascading into city walls

they break the truce

who made it upon me

to sail above me

but now they linger in their homes

using me for mischief

violating my bellies

with oil, dead bodies--Filth!

You must not make me angry

I can swoon snow upon you

through the wind--He knows me personally--

break dams and destroy ports,

bring boats in disaster to shores--

warn them, friend,

to play with me no more."

I can not, said me,

I am but one man

"Then, beware the storm!"

Claimed she.
