The personal trainer in each of these games is a great addition to these video games. It is crucial that you do the exercises properly in order to reap all the benefits of your virtual gym. Pay attention to your trainer as they explain how to do the exercise. If you are not sure if you got it right, watch the exercise again. All of these games will keep track of your progress.
I have been using the Nintendo Wii as my own virtual gym for over a year now. Below are some games that you want to add to your collection. . These are all games that I like to use in my exercise routine. They add variety to my workouts.
Let's start with the Wii Fit
This game came out in May 2007, and should be the core of your virtual gym. It has a lot of exercises that can be used for strength training, yoga, aerobics and even balance mini-games. The key to this is the balance board. While it will record your work with the Nintendo Wii fit, you can also enter other exercises that you do. I ride my bicycle, use Active Life:Outdoor Challenge, Gold's Gym Cardio, etc.
My Fitness Coach
An excellent game that utilizes equipment that you already have, ie, exercise ball, resistance bands, treadmill, etc and the game will even set up an exercise routine for you. This game is very intuitive and will help set up the best exercise routine for you.
Active Life:Outdoor Challenge
This game is an great game for cardiac development. It really gets your heart pounding. It has it's own gaming pad and there are many exercise routines incorporated into this game. While this game does not have a personal trainer it does allow you to set up your own cardiac exercise routine.
Gold's Gym Cardio Workout
This is for people who know the rigorous training that boxers have to undergo. This has replaced Wii Sports - Boxing in my own work-out. This uses two wii remotes and you can also use the Nintendo Wii Fit Balance Board. This game is an excellent cardiovascular game. You initially have the choice of two trainers, you can unlock more.
Wii Sports
This game comes with the Nintendo Wii, and has many activities that can be used in your virtual home gym. I use all of the training routines, especially the boxing to get the most out of this game.
There are so many possibilities with the Nintendo Wii for working out in your home. I like the fact that I can now workout during the winter in my home, rather than fight snow drifts to get to a gym.
