Turning Your Holiday Office Party Look From Business to Party Glam

Important holiday party, but no time to rush home after work? Don't sweat it. Yes, December is the month that shifts our social calendars into overdrive, but you can look fabulous at any jingle bell event. Here are a few easy tips to turn you into a festive and glamorous quick change artist. But don't even think about pulling out that Christmas sweater from years past!

First of all, do a little work the night before. Give yourself a manicure and pedicure. Go with a pale, shimmery color instead of a dark one. You can paint the polish on quicker, and the colors go with everything. Plus, if you chip some polish at work the next day, it won't be obvious.

Wear your good black suit (skirted or pants) to work. After five, ditch the blazer and look dazzling in a top of glitzy material. There are some beautiful ones out there in satin, silk and velvet. How about an ivory color for year-round versatility or maybe a dramatic Christmas red? After all, red is the ultimate Christmas color, and in a room full of guests dressed in black, you'll be sure to stand out. And any metallic fabric in any color will announce you are off to a party.

Large handbags may be in style, but not for a party. Switch to a glamorous evening bag. Today, there are even attractive and inexpensive makeup bags in metallic colors that can stand in for an evening purse.

Leave those diamond or pearl studs behind. They're fine for the office, but you want something a little more special for a holiday party. So dress your lobes in chandelier earrings. They say party to any outfit. Go easy on other jewelry, though, when you wear chandeliers. They make a big statement all by themselves.

Re-line your eyes and touch up your lids with a metallic shadow deeper than your daytime shade. Add an extra coat of lengthening mascara. Brush some extra blush on your cheeks.

Don't forget your lips. A deeper color than usual topped off with a sparkly gloss will make your smile shine. Maybe Christmas is the time to try a daring new red.

Swap your sensible office pumps for strappy high heeled sandals. Keep your legs looking good all year round with a sunless tanner. If stilettos sound too uncomfortable, there are also sexy alternatives. Flats are the hottest thing in shoe wear this year. How about black velvet flats? You can find snap on shoe ornaments to dress them up for parties. Or go for shiny silver or gold flats.

Add some gloss to your hair. Check out the drug store for products designed to add some silky shine simply by smoothing some on the top layer of your hair. You can transform your limp daytime hairdo with just a spritz of a spray. Your hair will look and feel sensuous. Last, but far from least, don't forget a dose of your favorite scent.

Remember, just adding a few sparkling and simple solutions to your everyday look will get you through any holiday event. You'll look and feel beautiful and festive.
