TurnItUp Media Enters Free Legal Music Downloads Business

Siun Griffin
Music downloading on the Internet is big business and a concern to record labels and music artists. Many companies are looking for ways to provide music downloaders with cheap and legal ways to get the music they want, while keeping artists and record companies happy. TurnItUp Media has just launched a revolutionary idea that will give Internet users legal music to download for free.

The TurnItUp system has been in development for a number of years and it is finally available to everyone. It is the first company to use an advertising model on a music download site, which will allow the site to provide free music downloads to its members which are legal. When a member signs up the only payment they are required give is a few seconds of their time to watch an ad aimed at them based on the information they provide in their profile, not a bad deal for completely free music.

TurnItUp Media has been around since 2003 when it was founded with a different name, MediaXces. Fleming wanted to provide a service that other companies were not succeeding in doing. In today's press release he said "In 2003, I saw the music industry was preparing to go down hard with the development and wide usage of P2P software. It was only a matter of time" . (TurnItUp Press release) With this idea Fleming set to work on a system that could make all those involved happy. Today the result of this quiet hard work is now available.

Getting to this point was not easy for TurnItUp Media, initially record labels and investors were not so sure about it and unwilling to contribute to making the idea work. This caused Fleming to rethink his business model forming what is now the ad based system. The fees that advertisers pay to show their ads to a target audience cover the cost of the music downloads.

As of today the TurnItUp Media system is in beta that means it is being tested live to see where its needs ironing out. Up to 25,000 people can now sign up and try the site out in the beta stage. This will continue until the end of December. For taking part in this go to the TurnItUp site: http://www.turnitupmedia.com/pages/registration.aspx, sign up for a chance to be at the start of a revolutionary new way to provide music downloads to music lovers around the world for no cost at all to them.

I recently registered at TIUM and was very disappointed.

First, you can NOT download completely free music by watching advertisements as advertised. The number of points you may earn per song is capped, thus forcing you to either sign up for shady third party offers (many of which are blocked by Firefox by default since they have been identified as sites which collect private information for resale), or you have to purchase the additional points needed.

Second, I decided to purchase some credits, since cheap music is still nice (and, supposedly, the cap will be removed in the future, so I thought I'd help out). However, the credits never appeared in my account. I contacted support and did not receive any response. Only after I initiated a refund through PayPal did I receive a response from TIUM. They conceded there were errors and that a refund would be issued. Within a few days, PayPal notified me that their attempt to retrieve the funds had failed. So, I lost my money and stil
