Hammer Metal Spray Paint
Hammered metal spray paint in a brown, bronzed, or black color is the simplest way I know to turn existing hardware into Tuscan kitchen cabinet hardware.
You want to take your hardware off of your Tuscan kitchen cabinets. Clean them thoroughly and let them dry.
Lay out some newspaper and line the kitchen hardware up on the sheets. Lightly mist and spray the kitchen hardware until it has that warm, hammer metal look you find in high end Tuscan kitchen cabinet hardware.
Paint all sides of the hardware, let it dry, then reinstall.
Mixing Your Own Paints
Ok, spray paint is not for everyone. You can mix your own paints if you want. Take a red, some green, and a little black paint. Mix these three colors together until you get the nice rustic brown color you want for your Tuscan kitchen cabinet hardware.
After you remove your kitchen cabinet hardware and clean it you will want to prime it with a Kilz primer. Let the primer dry. Now, paint on your rustic brown paint color.
You can also splatter on black paint to create a more rustic look on the kitchen cabinet hardware. Let the paint dry and seal it with a clear polyurethane paint. Then reinstall on yoru Tuscan kitchen cabinets.
Rust Paint Kits
Rust paint kits and faux paint kits are the coolest way to transform plain existing kitchen cabinet hardware into authentic rustic looking Tuscan kitchen hardware.
You can buy a variety of faux rust kits at your local home improvement store. Each will have its own directions, so be sure to read them.
A faux rust kit will have more than one step in the paint process, but the look is a amazing. You can take outdated brassy kitchen hardware and make it look old, rustic, and Tuscan in only a few minutes.
You may want to seal your faux rust paint treatment on the Tuscan kitchen cabinet hardware with a clear matte acrylic spray paint. This way the faux rust paint does not come off the Kitchen cabinet hardware.
I hope one of these ideas work for helping you to create faux rustic Tuscan kitchen cabinet hardware using yoru existing kitchen drawer pulls and knobs! Don't forget, these ideas also work well for hinges!
