When you Fancy an Italian
When you fancy an Italian, a good place to begin is with a sound recommendation from friends or family who have rave reviews to share with you. That is how my husband and I found out about Tuscany Gardens. Before we started a house/ pet sitting job in Penn Valley, some friends of ours told us of a great Italian restaurant that they normally frequent.

Tuscany Gardens in Penn Valley offers breakfast, lunch and dinner to hungry diners. But if you are ordering from the takeaway menu, you can only order lunch (from 11:00am onwards) or dinner (after 4:00pm). Appetizers include bruschetta antipasti, garlic cheese bread, and homemade soups, ranging in price from $4.95-$13.95, depending on your appetite.

Mario's Ultimate Sandwiches
Sandwiches include Mario's ultimate original sandwich, which includes roast beef, turkey, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, avocado, balsamic vinaigrette and two kinds of white cheese, the vegetarian, the chicken club, and B.LT. Sandwiches start at $11.95 for a small, all the way up to $19.95 for some large sandwiches.
What Else is on Offer?
Tuscany Gardens also offers a range of calzones, all priced at $9.95, which comes with a a garden salad, pasta, such as classic lasagne, for $8.95 or $13.95 for a large or an item from the grill, such as baby back ribs, New York steak and grilled salmon.
Our Experience
We had heard great things about the restaurant and the lasagne especially, so my husband and I each ordered lasagne, which came with a side order of salad and two breadsticks. We called in our order, which was ready for pick-up the moment we arrived. The service was fast, friendly and professional. Although we received a generous portion of lasagne, we found that the sauce was far too rich. It was filling and tasty, but it was also salty. We paid $32.40 total for our meal, which we found a bit pricey for what we received.
Recommendation
Tuscany Gardens in Penn Valley offers a great variety of meals to suit all taste buds. But we found that the prices were too expensive, unless you bought a single order and divided it, and the food we ordered did not meet our expectations. We doubt whether we will return, and would not recommend this establishment.
