Sometimes it takes a little bit more to have your article recognized. The best way you can have your article stand out from the crowd is by adding an image. Sometimes it can be the difference between the viewers selecting your page from someone else's! At Associated Content, you have a better chance of having your work appear on the Front Page if it has an image! This is a detailed tutorial describing the steps you need to take to add an image to your article!

Step 1:

Completing Your Content. First, you must complete your article. You can get to the screen that allows you to add images only after you write your article, adds tags, and other extra information. Adding an image is the 4th of 5 steps as you work your way through your article.

Step 2:

Read and Agree to The Image Submission Guidelines. In order to add an image, you must check the box next to the "I Have Read and Agree to the image submission guidelines".

Step 3:

Find the Image You Want. Select the photo(s) you wish to use for your article. You have to make sure of copyright laws when do so. You can use select photos you have taken, photos from online press kits, from www.sxu.hu, www.morguefile.com, www.commons.wikimedia.org, and www.istockphoto.com. Save the image you wish to use onto your computer.

Step 4:

Click on Browse. Click on "Browse" and find the image on your computer. It can be in a 'jpg' or 'gif' format. Make sure the image is 1 MB or smaller and you can upload up to 5 images to accompany your article!

Step 5:

Credit the Image. You wouldn't want someone stealing your work, so make sure you credit the image correctly! In order to credit the image, you need to follow the guidelines in the Image Submission Guidelines. Basically, you should use the user's name in this field (or your name, if it is a photo you have taken). For site-specific rules, click on the link above.

Step 6:

Enter the Copyright Information. You should follow the Copyright Submission Guidelines when filling out this field. If it is a photo that you have taken, then enter your full real name. If it isn't, it usually follows the "website.com/user's name" format in the copyright blank. Click on the link above to follow the exact rules.

Step 7:

Enter the Image Caption. Just enter some information about the image. This is usually some background information about the image. Then click 'Upload Image".

Step 8:

Click on the 'Finish and Preview' button on the bottom right of the screen. You are done! The image may not show up now, but it will as soon as the article is published!

You can now add images to your article! This will not only make the article more attractive, but it will usually lead to more page views! If you need more images for your work, you can make a "Slideshow" and place a link in your article. If the viewers are interested in more pictures, they will view the "Slideshow" and this will lead to page views on your "Slideshow" as well!
