1. Find the USB cord that came with your digital camera.
2. Plug one end of the cord into your camera (usually the smaller one) and the other into a USB slot in your computer.
3. Turn your camera on - you're ready to upload digital photos onto your computer now.
4. What happens next depends on the operating system your computer uses:
If you're using MS Windows-Your computer will detect the connection automatically and a window will open, asking you what you want to do with the pictures. From the displayed options, choose Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard and click Ok. This will enable you to choose the digital photos that you want to upload onto your computer.
If you're using Mac OS- On detecting a connection iPhoto will open, and then you need to click Import to start to upload your photos.
5. When the upload process is completed, you can choose to delete pictures from your camera to free the space on the camera's memory card.
For MS Windows- check the box that says Delete pictures from my device after copying them. Then click Finish in the Wizard's window and you can unplug your camera.
For Mac OS- you need to click on your camera's icon on the desktop to open it. Choose the folder that contains your pictures, highlight them and move them all to trash. In order to erase them permanently from the memory card, you have to empty the trash before unplugging the camera. Once the trash is empty, Eject your camera, and then unplug it.
Now that you have uploaded digital photos onto your computer, there are many things that you can do with them. For example, you can order prints online without having to leave your house. If you'd like to share your pictures with your friends and family, you can upload your digital photos onto one of the many picture sharing websites available online. You can also attach your pictures to emails, or post them on your blog or website. Or you can choose to create a photo gift (the possibilities are endless, starting with personalized cards, calendars, mugs, puzzles, magazine covers and movie posters, to name just a few). You might want to consider creating a photo album (a wedding photo album, a vacation photo album, etc.) and have it printed like a book - it makes a wonderful keepsake that will last for a long time.
