Smallville (Fox)
I once was hooked on Smallville, the show about Clark Kent's life in rural America before he becomes the Man of Steel. But that was a few seasons ago, when Michael Rosenbaum was still playing the twisted Lex Luther, Kristin Kreuk was content with playing Lana Lang, and Jonathan Kent (John Schneider) was still alive and kicking. Well, "Smallville: Season 9" is now upon us and Clark Kent (Tom Welling) still can't seem to learn how to fly, nor can he find lasting romance with Lois Lane ( Erica Durance). Welling himself is 32 and it looks like he will be collecting social security long before he can final turn into Superman. Enough already. The fact that they have had to bring in Green Arrow and a few other super friends should be telling Fox that the party has long been over. It was good while it latest, time for Fox to move on.
Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
By all sense of reason this show jumped the shark last season, and someone needs to tell Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Dr. McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) that their on again, off again, cutesy (or is it dark and disturbing?) romance needs to be taken to the other level or its time to cut bait. And don't tell me that last season's ending with these two pleased anyone. This show has not been the same since Addison Montgomery ( Kate Walsh ) moved out to her new practice in L.A., and Dr. Burke (Isaiah Washington) left Christina at the alter. Now George (T.R. Knight) is gone as well, Dr. Steamy (Eric Dane) is playing house with Little Grey (Chyler Leigh), and no amount of CPR this season can revive this show to the status it once had.
Glee (Fox)
I hate new shows that try to ride the coattails of a popular hit, in this case High School Musical. This geek fest has "turkey written all over it." Anyone who really wants to indulge in a show about geeks is better off watching the quirky but cute "Big Bang Theory." Besides, the annoying success of High School Musical aside, when was the Glee Club ever the popular thing to do? Never. That alone should tell you that this show will be hard pressed for a decent fan base. But hey, if you can't come up with an original idea in Hollywood, might as well jump on a popular current one. Fox would have been better off pleasing a different group of geeks by renewing "Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles," but I digress into a a personal gripe.
Vampire Dairies (CW)
Vampire Dairies is another band wagon jumper. Yes, "Twilight" was a big hit, and "New Moon" will be out later this year. By the same token "Moonlight" failed two seasons ago (decent show, bad timing). To be fair, I brought in vampire expert on this one (my better half) and asked her opinion on it. Her take was, the guys are alright, the girl is forgettable. Not the take you want in a sexy new vampire show. That and being on the CW on a Thursday night at 8 PM is not exactly a recipe for success.
Shark Tank (ABC )
After season upon season of watching every reality show that TV executives could come up with, I think I know enough about them to tell you that personality and chemistry among the contestants are the two main ingredients needed for a hit. This show has neither. Along those lines, this group of millionaires eager to ferret out the next big thing does not impress in the way that Donald Trump once did. I give it 5 or 6 airings before it ends up in the can. If you want a better offering from ABC, try "Castle" on Monday nights.

Post a CommentTotally botched that Shark Tank prediction didn't you?
I agree with all of these.
After watching "Glee" and the music video from the show, which are both available as free downloads from iTunes, I have to disagree with your assesment of the show. "Glee" is not a "High School Musical" knockoff and already has huge buzz. I'll go on record as saying it will be one of the breakouts of the 2009/2010 season.
I agree, but I am looking forward to Vampire Diaries
Smallville isn't on Fox it was on the WB and now on the CW.
i could care less i just want cbs 2 bring back harpers island!!!
