TV on the Go is Revolutionizing the Couch Potato!

Erin Morris
The advent of the television was a revolutionary technological advancement that changed the world. Not only did it create hundreds of thousands of jobs because of the need for writers, directors, set designers, executives, producers, TV stars, etc, but more importantly, it changed family dynamics. Families all of the sudden had a fantastic new option for spending quality time together. I remember being little and settling down each night after dinner with my entire family to watch our favorite television programs. Television became a way for families to come together and enjoy each others company by investing time in a common experience.

While television may have seemed like an extraordinary invention at the time, it was only one of the first steps in what has now been named the technological revolution. While technology has allowed the world to progress in so many ways, it has also distanced us from the rituals we once adhered to. It seems that the more technology progresses, the busier we get which means the less time we have to spend with others. Who has time to sit in front of the TV anymore? We're all too busy surfing the net, listening to our iPod's and talking on our cell phones. Many of us would still like to indulge in our favorite television shows, but the busier we get, the harder it is to sit down at the same time every week to watch the lives of our favorite characters unfold.

As technology advanced, TV ratings began to drop. It was feared by many that prime time television would slowly start to fade away. Then, television recording devices came to the rescue. The invention of recording devices such as DVR and TiVo has allowed us to record programs on television so that we can watch them at a later date. DVR allows people to record the shows they want in order to watch them whenever they have time to do so.

While this revolutionary technology has changed the way we watch television, it still limits our watching capabilities. How often do you find yourself somewhere other than home with some time on your hands and you think, 'I wish I could watch that episode of 24 that I recorded last night!' Well now you can! Further advancement in technology has broken the boundaries of traditional television once again and allowed us the ability to take TV with us wherever we go!

For years, avid viewers have been able to watch some of their favorite television shows online; ABC has become famous for: 'miss an episode? Catch it online at ABC.com'. However other television stations have been more reluctant to air full episodes online because they fear it will detract from normal TV viewership. Because of this, technological advances have gone above and beyond the television stations and have created devices that allow you to control your home TV from anywhere.

One program that has been created is called MobiTV. Founded in 1999, MobiTV is the leading provider and platform for content delivery via mobile networks. Users can enjoy such features as, premium and primetime programming, live television, video on demand as well as satellite and digital music services from the top cable television and broadcast networks.

With MobiTV, your cellular phone becomes a portable television. This award winning service is provided to you directly through your mobile carrier. With over 100 channels to choose from, access to TV is now in the palm of your hand. In addition to mobile service, MobiTV also offers live streaming television through your computer. Gain access to 30 channels of live streaming television; now your television goes wherever your computer goes! Visit www.mobitv.com for more information on this extraordinary service!

While MobiTV gives you access to television, music and videos on your phone, another device goes even further to allow you the ultimate television access. This device is called Slingbox™. Slinbox™ is a revolutionary product because it lets you control your own TV from anywhere. This innovative piece of equipment is designed to hook up directly to your internet connection as well as to your DVR box, cable box, satellite box or DVD player.

So what does this mean to consumers? Hogging the remote has gone to a whole new level. Just imagine sitting in the car, turning on your laptop and instantly accessing your own personal cable stations. No matter where you are, as long as you are connected to the internet, you can view your television. Now you can DVR your favorite Monday night shows and watch them on your laptop Tuesday on your lunch hour. Instant TV access wherever you go!

Sling Media, Inc. was founded in 2004 and prides themselves on being a different kind of consumer electronics company. Instead of trying to come out with the 'next best thing' this company works to allow existing media electronics to converge. First we had TV, then VCR's, then computers, then DVD's now HD and Blue-Ray and DVR, so what's going to be next? At Sling Media, Inc. Instead of advancing technology, they strive to intermix technology so that we can enjoy all the benefits of existing technology no matter where we are!

Sling Media's first product the Emmy award-winning and internationally acclaimed Slingbox™, has completely transformed the way we are able to watch TV. The Slingbox™ has the ability to turn any Internet-connected laptop, PC, Mac, or Smartphone into your home television. That means you can watch TV virtually everywhere.

In addition, Sling Media, Inc. has also developed the SlingPlayer™ Mobile, a device that allows you watch your TV and all of its programming on your Windows Mobile, Palm OS or Symbian cell phones and PDAs. This means you'll have television mobility on your phone! Now you can make your phone an all in one device by adding television to your mobile network. For more information on the Slingbox™ or SlingPlayer™ Mobile, visit www.slingmedia.com.

So if you've felt alienated from your television set because you are too busy with everything else in life, now there is an easier way to enjoy all the programs you've grown to love. Don't miss another episode of your favorite television program. Its time to take TV with you wherever you go!
