"Idol Tonight" will take viewers behind-the-scenes to the exclusive live pre-show and red carpet event of
"American Idol." Idol Tonight is being hosted by some American Idol alumnae; Kimberly Caldwell, an Idol finalist, Rosanna Tavarez, a contestant on "Popstars," and season one runner-up, Justin Guarini.
The three will take viewers on behind-the-scenes tours of the set, everything that goes into each and every episode of American Idol, the lives of the finalist as they take a step closer each week to their dream of fame and fortune.
Idol Tonight will also have exclusive clips from the auditions viewers did not see, outtakes and
post-performance confessionals. Fans can also look forward to interviews with each week's eliminated performer. It is doubtful these post performance confessionals will offer anything juicy or scandalous.
Idol Tonight even goes so far as to speak with the fashion stylists, casting agents, online experts and top magazine editors to get their views, advice and reactions to each week's show. And for fans of past American Idol rejects, Idol Tonight will bring former finalist by as well and get their take on this year's competition.
However, viewers should not expect to see former American Idol contestants Frenchie, Corey, Clay, Rueben, or Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson to swing by and give their take on this seasons competition. Frenchie is busy starring in Rent on Broadway, Clay and Rueben both have new albums out, and Jennifer Hudson is probably sitting at home shining her Oscar and thinking about how Simon told her she wasn't good enough. And Corey? Well, he's probably off digging through Paula's garbage again.
No word on whether or not the shows three judges, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and the spacey Paula Abdul will make appearances on the show. Odds aren't in favor of Simon showing up on Idol Tonight, but there is a slim chance viewers might see Randy and or Paula.
It should be noted that Idol Tonight is being produced and aired on the TV Guide Channel, which is owned by News Corp., which also owns Fox, the network responsible for bringing American Idol into homes across America.
