TV Moms Who Are Real Moms

Many of our favorite television moms are real life moms as well. Perhaps they do not have as many children as on their TV shows they still gave birth to sons and daughters themselves. Here is a quick guide to some of our favorite current television moms.

In the midseason replacement show for Ugly Betty, In the Motherhood will be shown it is a new sit-com and will star Cheryl Hines who plays Jane and has two girls Annie and baby Sophie. In real life, Hines is mom to Catherine Rose. I am sure that once this series gets going she will join the ranks of other loveable television moms in this article. Links will follow this article.

Reba McEntire who stars in Reba on Lifetime plays a mom to three children Cheyenne, Kira and Jake but in real life she is only a mom to Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock and is step mom to three children. I wonder if Reba ever brings any of the humor from real life motherhood into the show.

Nichole Sullivan who stars as Rita Clemens in Rita Rocks is the TV mom to Shannon and Haley while in real life she is mom to Dashel Pierce Packham. I am sure this feisty little blond bombshell is as funny at times as a parent is as on her role as a TV show mom.

Barbara played by Jeanne Tripplehorn on the Big Love, plays loving mom to Sarah, Ben and Tancy and real mom to a son named August. She is the only one of the three wives who is a mom in real life. She plays mom to more children on her TV show than she does in real life, I wonder which role she finds easier to deal with.

Of course, our favorite Lawyer/ mom will be back in reruns as the loveable Clair Huxtable who is yet another real life mom, she is mom to William, and three step children. We all know how Claire ran her TV show household with patience and a kind heart and plenty of laughter; I wonder if this is the way it is at her own home.

I am not a TV mom nor do I have a television show, but I am a real life mom of three and I know how hard it is to work outside of the home and still be a quality parent. My hat is off to five women who make a career with children work so wonderfully.
