TV for the Night Owl

It's Best Just to Go to Bed!

MikeBabjak
I'm starting this article at 2:58 a.m. EST. Cant sleep, so I'm doing some laundry, filling my body full of some great fast food and watching the first Batman on TNT.

Now, I know I am not alone in this. Everyone at some point has days or nights when they just cant lay down and fall asleep. I'm having one of those nights right now. I have been up since 7 this morning and have had a pretty full day. From work to coaching and then hanging out with my girlfriend, I figured I'd be ready to get to sleep, but here I am writing! Let me see if I cant help others through a long night like I am having and hopefully put myself to sleep in the process!

On nights, err.... mornings like this, I usually begin by finding something on TV, golf is usually the best remedy to get to sleep if you are up at odd hours. The quite soothing voices and sounds put me to sleep during the day too! If that is not on I will find something worth watching for a while, then I will hop on the Internet to check my emails, update my website and blog etc. If this is still not doing it I spend a little time looking at You Tube, maybe play a game or two of GTA or Myth 2. Still.....not working! Well, there is the old warm milk idea, the hot towel over the eyes or the soothing music Cd's and aromatherapy but who wants to go through all that work just to get to bed?

So here I sit, still. It is now 3:07 a.m. EST and I am still watching Batman on TNT. Good movie, actually a great movie given that it is 17 years old now. Takes me back to the good old days of Nintendo and VHS, video rental stores and the Domino's Noid. Why the endless rant you ask? You are still reading aren't you? I'm hoping that in writing this late at night, remembering little details about the past that I may put myself to sleep. Writing, anything, can be very relaxing and relieving. Much like reading it empties your mind for a little while and during the repetitive typing motion, spell checking and grammar checking, it wears one out to the point that their eyes get tired looking at the white background of the writing typing surface. The sounds of the keyboard start to get a little softer and then inaudible while you are lost in the action of writing your thoughts. Maybe that is a better idea then surfing the web or watching TV this late at night. Maybe I have been doing it all wrong the whole evening, yes, I suggest this to everyone. Why? Because it is now 3:14 a.m. EST. I am tired, I'm going to bed!

We've all had those nights. Sometimes I find it helpful to get up and do things around the house. It's easier to accomplish some things during those random early hours.
