TV Shows for Kids: Nickelodeon's The Fairly OddParents

Shane Carney
The Fairly OddParents is one of the most popular animated television shows for kids. The show first aired on Nickelodeon on March 30, 2001.The show was created by Butch Hartman and produced at Frederator Studios. The Fairly OddParents is the second most popular show currently airing on Nickelodeon, behind only SpongeBob SquarePants. The show is typically broken into two segments that share the half-hour show time, but the show occasionally has one segment run the entire length. The Fairly OddParents has had a total of eighty-three episodes air on Nickelodeon.

The Fairly OddParents takes place in a town called Dimmsdale, the home of a ten-year-old boy named Timmy Turner. The show follows Timmy's struggles with other characters including Vicky (his babysitter), Mr. Crocker (his strange teacher), Francis (the school bully), and several magical creatures.

To help Timmy Turner get through his struggles, he has two fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda. Cosmo and Wanda grant Timmy wishes and make sure that he is always happy. Cosmo and Wanda are Timmy's "Fairly OddParents," a play on the term "fairy godparents." Cosmo and Wanda's entertaining personalities lead to some crazy ideas to ensure Timmy's happiness. Timmy is the only person who can see them because they change themselves into other items when they are in public.

The show features many other characters that each have their comical personality to try and get any child watching the show to pass a smile or, in many cases, start rolling on the floor laughing. Some of the other characters in the show are:
A.J. Ibrahim: He is one of Timmy's best friends. He has a science lab inside his room where he plans to clone himself.
Chester McBadbat: He is another one of Timmy's best friends. He is a very dirty character and enjoys anything involving filth.
Vicky: She is Timmy's evil babysitter who can't seem to leave him alone no matter what.

While The Fairly OddParents appears to try and pass across a moral at the end of episodes, most children watching the show probably do not notice. Instead, children watching the show are cracking up at the jokes and silly events in the show that are clearly targeted at a younger audience. The Fairly OddParents is a terrific show made for young kids and its ratings in the past are enough to verify that. At one point, The Fairly OddParents even passed SpongeBob SquarePants as the top show at Nickelodeon, although the run at number one did not last too long.

I have an idea for a new episode of the fairly oddparents. It would be an episode where timmy is arguing with cosmo and wanda about who's life is better, the one who makes the wishes or the one who grants the wishes and of course cosmo being his oblivious self still wouldnt know whats going on. and they all agree to switch places for a while and timmy regrets his wish and wants to take it back but is not able to. and then gets into some trouble like he breaks some rules or something and is taken away from cosmo and wanda and has to find a way to get back to them. He finally gets back to them and talks to them about changing back and they all agree because cosmos and wanda ( well wanda) realizes that being a fairy is much better then being a human. I would call this episode "Timmy Turner, Fairly odd parent" what do you all think?

hey there i was thinking of a realy good idea for a new episode. where vicky gets swallowed alive by a giant snake and timmy decides that he wont get her out of its stomech and cosmo and wanda keep on trying to convince him to save her and finaly his parents say that he wont be in trouble if he saves her and then in the end he beats up the snake and gets her out of the snake and vicky says thanks for rescuing me and timmy wishes every thing back to normal. i thought of a good name if you made this episode, i was thinking of the title ,snake of doom, what do you think? im just trying to give you some good ideas for an episode, and i love your show.
