ABC:
ABC has announced that its dramas Flash Forward and Happy Town will join The Witches of Eastwick, The Forgotten, and Ugly Betty not returning next fall. ABC's comedies on the chopping block include new show Romantically Challenged, Scrubs and already cancelled show Hank.
CBS has cancelled a number of TV shows including Cold Case, Numbers, Miami Medical, Ghost Whisperer, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Gary Unmarried, and Accidentally on Purpose. For those fans of Ghost Whisperer and The New Adventures of Old Christine, there is reason for cautious optimism. ABC may be in talks to pick up these two shows - ABC has been interested in Christine for the past couple of years, and ABC Studios co-owns Ghost Whisperer so there may be reason to hope that these two shows may be jumping ship, especially Ghost Whisperer.
CW
Fans of the reboot Melrose Place, sorry. The CW has announced that Melrose Place will not be returning in the fall.
FOX
Not really new news, 24 will not be returning to the small screen next year. However, apparently Steven Spielberg asked for writers from 24 to join his new show, Terra Nova, which will probably premiere in midseason. And there is always the long-talked about 24 movie to keep your hopes alive that Jack Bauer will always be around to keep us safe.
Probably the biggest surprise of the new TV schedules, Law and Order will not be making record-breaking history for being the longest show airing on TV. But, don't count producer and creator Dick Wolf out - rumor is that he is trying to convince other networks, notably TNT, to keep the show alive. Plus, there will be a new Law and Order set in Los Angeles to keep your L&O fix going. Other NBC shows that received the axe include Heroes, Mercy, Trauma, and of course, The Jay Leno Show.
There you have it. Your list of TV shows that will not be returning in the fall of 2010. Did your favorite TV show make the cut? If not, there's always DVD's and the internet to keep you going. Stay tuned this summer for a brief synopsis of what new TV shows you can look forward to in the fall of 2010.
