Tween Girls Inexpensive and Fun Halloween Costume Ideas

Sally Albright
Now that your daughter is a tween she isn't likely to be dazzled or wowed by the same costumes she once did last year. No more cute kitties or fluffy bunnies for these soon to be teen girls. Problem is that it seems that the older they get the more expensive the costumes become. This doesn't necessarily have to be the case for you and your daughter this Halloween. Here are 5 inexpensive Halloween costume ideas that both you and your tween daughter are sure to love.

Halloween Costumes for Tween Girls Idea # 1: Fashion Designer

If your tween girl has an eye for fashion then this costume idea may be a big hit with her. As it takes a lot of creativity to be a fashion designer this costume allows you and your daughter to use your creative juices to create a Halloween costume that is sure to stand out from the rest. Some measuring tape, a pencil behind the ear, a jazzy outfit, and a clipboard is all it takes to create this fun costume idea. It's likely that you already have these things laying around the house or they can be picked up inexpensively. Instead of a traditional trick or treat bag your daughter can bring along a stylish tote bag picked up at a local thrift store.

Halloween Costumes for Tween Girls Idea # 2: Pop Star

Many girls seem to really get into music at this age and it can be used to your advantage this Halloween. A few mismatched articles of clothing, some star sunglasses, and even a feathered boa can come together to create this fun look for Halloween. For a trick or treat sack you and your daughter can make a trip to the craft store and pick up a blank canvas bag along with some iron on embellishments you can use to decorate it with.

Halloween Costumes for Tween Girls Idea #3: Sports Queen

If your tween daughter is into sports you may consider letting her go this Halloween as the Sports Queen. All it takes is her sports uniform (soccer gear, basketball outfit, etc.) and a cool tiara to wear. Because you will be using her uniform you can practically make this costume for less than a few dollars by only having to purchase an inexpensive plastic crown from a local party supply store. Instead of a traditional trick or treat sack she can bring along her backpack which she uses to hold all of her gear or a spare backpack you have laying around the house.

Halloween Costumes for Tween Girls Idea #4: Fashion Disaster

You and your tween daughter can have a lot of fun with this costume idea. You can give your daughter a funky hairstyle and have her dress in contrasting pieces of clothing such as plaids with polka dots. Find an outfit perfect for this Halloween costume will be just as fun and wearing the costume itself. As a trick or treat sack you and your daughter can search local thrift shops for a bag that neither one of you would normally be caught dead with.

Halloween Costumes for Tween Girls Idea #5: Freaky Friday

There have been many movies made where a child and a parent switch bodies, and lives, only to come to appreciate one another in the end. One of these movies is Freaky Friday, the inspiration for this next Halloween costume idea for your tween daughter. In order to make this Halloween costume idea work Mom will have to participate as well. Mom, you can go dressed as a young tween girl and have your daughter dress as a mature woman. To make this Halloween costume idea even more fun let your daughter pick your outfit and you pick hers. As a trick or treat sack your tween daughter can use an black stylish tote bag you picked up for next to nothing at your local thrift shop.

Well, I think the fashion disaster is a cool idea. This year I was a Bad Fairy, which was fun. I bought a tutu and some black leggings with rips and spiders. I wore a black shirt and some black wings. This was an easy costume for me because I already had a lot of the pieces. Another idea is a modern fairy. This is easy with a pair of skinny jeans, a halter top or something like that and wings. And last year I was an 80's girl, which is super easy too. Just ask your mom about what was in style back then. Hope this helped you!
