Tweeting to Success: KTSProds

Twitter really is a great promotional tool for your Associated Content articles. I've been on Twitter for over a year now and have utilized the auto-posting tool offered by AC to automatically post information on my Twitter page about new articles that have been published. This is a big time saver and it is very effective at getting first day page views. However, as I have found out, once the Tweet has been buried by new posts on your page they lose their effectiveness at driving traffic to your articles. This is why you need to employ a few other tricks of the trade to keep people in the loop about your favorite articles.

The first trick is to create some sort of game that involves going to your articles via a link that you provide to find the answer to a question. You can offer a low cost prize like a sticker or a digital avatar for the winner of the game, or you can offer them a discount for items that you sell on your business website. This game idea is very effective at getting people to go to specific articles, as well as to look at the other articles that you have written.

Another trick is to post daily article suggestions. You can base your selections on topics that are in the news or based on what people seem to be tweeting about that day. This is another way to generate traffic to your AC articles.

Some people build up their Twitter page by following others. This is a good option, but not something that I really do, because I want to make sure the Tweets on my page are not profane and are on topic. I do follow MadelineBinder, as her tweets are educational in nature and very helpful for homeschoolers and educators.

Since I have started using Twitter to promote my AC articles I have noticed that my page views have doubled. It did take a while to notice the difference, about two months, but the more I used Twitter to promote my articles the more dramatic the results become.
