Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Faces Challenges of Filming Edward and Bella's Daughter Renesmee
Special Effects Experts Will Create the Half Human, Half Vampire Baby
The first step in the process was to cast the role of Renesmee. The girl needed to look both young and old, have a sparkling personality, and resemble Kristen Stewart, who plays her mom, and Robert Pattinson, who plays her dad in the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight series, confirmed on the Twilight Facebook page that Mackenzie Foy has been chosen to play Bella and Edward's daughter, Renesmee.
Nine-year-old Mackenzie Foy is a newcomer to the film industry. She has an upcoming part in the remake of the classic television show Hawaii Five-O, and has appeared in television shows FlashForward, Til Death and a Burger King commercial.
When you see Mackenzie Foy's photo next to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's photo, it's easy to see why she was cast as their daughter, Renesmee. She could easily be the daughter of these two Twilight stars. There are more than 2,000 photos of Mackenzie Foy in the photo gallery on her fan page.
Now the tough part, how will they make Mackenzie Foy appear to age seventeen years in a seven-year period?
On the Official Twilight Facebook page, Breaking Dawn Director Bill Condon announced that Jean Black has been hired to be the Makeup designer for Breaking Dawn. Jean Black worked with David Fincher to create the award-winning age progression and regression done in the movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
John Bruno and his team will be responsible for the visual effects in Breaking Dawn. Bruno is an Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor who has worked on the special effects in movies such as Avatar and Poltergeist.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be split into two separate movies. Because Renesmee's birth doesn't come until halfway through Breaking Dawn, it is possible that we won't see Mackenzie Foy as Renesmee until the second film.
The screen play for both movies is being written by screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. Stephenie Meyer, Karen Rosenfelt and Wyck Godfrey are the producers of Breaking Dawn.
Unlike past Twilight Saga movies that came out in rapid succession, Breaking Dawn isn't scheduled to be in theaters until November 18, 2011. The second part of the film is scheduled to be released a whole year later on November 16, 2012.
