Twilight Saga "Eclipse" Movie Review

Ranee Wright
Eclipse, the third installment of the Twilight series (based on the books written by Stephenie Meyer) premiered on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at midnight, in most theaters around the country. Twilight Eclipse promises fans a more action-packed story than the previous two movies. There were lines around theaters that started as early as 7:00 p.m. in some areas. Millions of fans anxiously awaited the action and love scenes in the latest sequel. Various video trailers and Twilight reviews with movie stills are available on the internet.

"Eclipse" Plot

The Twilight Saga Eclipse movie is centered around the story of Victoria, a bad vampire, who is seeking revenge on Edward for killing her mate, James, in the first Twilight movie. Eclipse fans could not wait for the continuation of the story of the love triangle between human, Bella Swan, vampire Edward Cullen, and werewolf Jacob Black.

Victoria builds an army of baby vampires to kill Bella and the Cullens so that she can take her revenge. These scenes also appealed to the male viewers who were promised action in this film. All the Twilight Eclipse reviews from my male friends reveal that the gamble paid off.

Twilight "Eclipse" Review

The chemistry between the actors was much better in this sequel. With a cast of relatively new actors, many had gained experience and it showed. Edward did not appear to be in as much excruciating pain and Bella did not seem to have that annoying bottom lip bite as in previous Twilight sagas.

The makeup was also much better in Eclipse. The previous movies had their faces being almost painted white rather than pale thus accentuating more of the physical flaws of the actors. They stuck with this until the battle scene where Esme seemed to look like a ghost. The controversial "sparkling" of the vampires was not as dramatic.

The lack of Jacob wearing a shirt was even pointed out by Edward in the movie when he aked, "Doesn't he own a shirt?" That line showed more personality in the Edward character than any other line in the movie and garnered much laughter from the crowd.

The most exciting part of the movie and the one that Twilight Saga Eclipse movie fans will enjoy most was the story of Rosalie and Jasper. This seemed to make the audience more invested in the movie and also draw out great actors that had been overlooked previously. Rosalie actually showed that she was probably one of the more dangerous vampires among her clan. These scenes really made the movie connect with the books and set up the story for the next Twilight saga movie.

The Twilight Eclipse review from this writer is that this is the best of all three of the movies. The story was written better with the actors connecting and really pulling off the story.

"Eclipse" Pros and Cons

Most of the special effects were fabulous. The werewolves were magnificently crafted and the fight scenes and transitioning of the boys to werewolves were perfect. The army of vampires coming out of the water was dramatic. Unfortunately the special effects used in destroying the baby vampires by shattering their heads simply looked like glass breaking rather than real heads.

Twilight Saga

Twilight fans are looking forward to the fourth and final installment, Breaking Dawn. It is rumored through Twilight reviews movie blogs and hard-core fans that it will be the best of all in the series, with more story lines being shown. The movie will be split into two parts. Most fans will be sorry to see the saga come to an end though.

Ranee, I am so sorry! Just when I thought I had read everything I missed while I was camping, twenty more articles appeared in my inbox this morning that were published on July 10 - over a week ago. Apparently, because so many emails filled up my inbox, several were undeliverable until now - that I have emptied my mailbox!!! Please forgive me, I'm here to finally (!) read this lovely article review about Twilight. I may be the only person on the planet who has never seen the films - it's not my genre. Cheers :) (better late than never!)

Haven't seen any of the Twilight movies, but a lot of people I know have seen them. This one got mixed reviews from the people I know.
