Twilight's Alice Cullen

Meet Alice Cullen, she is one of the Cullen family vampires from the Stephanie Meyer series Twilight. In the film of the same name, she is portrayed by the exceptionally beautiful Ashley Greene. The character is described as pixie like and shortie by others. She is delightful to look at and plays the fairy like vampire with just the right air of mystery and witchcraft.

According to the Twilight wiki, Mary Alice Brandon was born in 1901. She took the name Alice years later and adopted the name Cullen when taken in by Carlisle and Esme Cullen. In Stephanie Meyer's Twilight novel, we learn that in Alice was institutionalized by her family. A vampire of that time cared for Alice deeply, when James became fixated on destroying that vampire and using Alice as a target (much as James was doing with Edward and Bella), Alice was transformed into a vampire. When she awoke from her painful transformation, she had no memory of the years previous, who made her or how it happened.

Gifted with clairvoyance, a vision guided her to find Jasper Hale with whom she fell in love. Together, they journeyed until they found the Cullen family and joined them. Alice's ability to see visions is not as persistent in the film as it is in the novels. Interestingly enough, the visions are even more evocative if you read the snippets of Midnight Sun posted on Meyer's website. Apparently, her manuscript was leaked so she no longer wants to work on it. But the work follows the story of Twilight from Edward's perspective, which allows readers a deeper insight into the lives of the Cullens and into Alice's visions.

Alice lives her life beyond just the moment. She sees the moments ahead, flipping through them like pages in a book even as they change. She is so used to living in the moment and a dozen moments ahead that it seems almost natural as breathing. She really is a bewitching and wonderful character.

In the long run, Alice remains one of the most intriguing characters in the Twilight saga. Her tale is enchanting. In the film series, Alice is portrayed by actress Ashley Greene.
