Twins Tickets Going Fast for Twins-Tigers Playoff

Twins tickets for October baseball looked impossible, but there will be Twins tickets for one more game at the Metrodome. Twins tickets went right on sale after Tuesday's tiebreaker was made official, and fans hope that Twins tickets will be on sale for the ALDS afterwards. Either way, Minnesota has done the unlikely by ensuring that Twins tickets will be available for one more game, since the Metrodome looked like it would be closed for baseball after today. However, the Homer Hankies will be available at the Metrodome one more time, for the Twins vs Tigers playoff on Tuesday afternoon.

Twins tickets went on sale at twinsbaseball.com soon after the Twins sealed their 13-4 win over the Royals today. Since the Tigers beat the White Sox 5-3, the Twins couldn't finish their unlikely AL Central comeback today, and have to do it on Tuesday.

Heading into September, the Twins looked finished in the AL Central, especially without Justin Morneau. Twins tickets for today's game were expected to be for the last baseball game at the Metrodome, as the Twins are going to the outdoor Target Field in 2010. But today's win over the Royals clinched a playoff game, which is in the Metrodome because the Twins won the season series over the Tigers.

In addition to going online at twinsbaseball.com, Twins tickets can also be bought at the Metrodome box office, or by calling 612-33-TWINS or 800-33-TWINS, according to My Fox Twin Cities. If Minnesota wins, tickets would then go on sale for Games 3 and 4 of the ALDS against the Yankees.

Although the Twins-Tigers drama has been the biggest playoff race this year, it may not be remembered in the long run. Both teams played in the worst division in baseball, and the winner may just be a sacrificial lamb for the Yankees in the playoffs. However, with the run the Twins are on, they may not be quickly counted out against the Yankees - and the Tigers have the starting rotation to give the Yankees trouble.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, they needed ace Justin Verlander just to force the playoff, and can't use him on Tuesday. Rick Porcello is expected to go for Detroit, with Scott Baker for Minnesota, according to MLB.com.

Twins tickets will probably go very quick for Tuesday's game, if they haven't already. The city of Minnesota is already at a fever pitch with the Twins' run, and the Vikings mega-showdown against the Packers tomorrow night. Getting at least one more playoff game at the Metrodome would be the perfect way to close out the Twins' tenure there - but they have to beat the Tigers one more time first.

The Twins vs Tigers playoff begins at 5 p.m. EST, 4 p.m Minnesota time, on TBS.
