There is also a great belief that twin are psychically linked as well as physically. Testing this theory and our connection, later in life my sister and I would sit and hold flash cards and try to project the image on the card to the other. We did this for quite a few months and would record our findings with a high amount of accuracy. It was discernible that we had some sort of link or unexplainable bond; we successfully guessed the correct images the other twin held about 80% of the time.
Not only do I believe that twins share an unspoken bond in their waking lives, but also in their sleep and dreams. Most twins, my sister and I included, are known to have the same dreams, sometimes even on the same night. My sister and I have been having the same dreams for a long time now but all have the same basic thoughts and ideas. All are set in the same place with the same elements.
I feel that growing up as a twin makes it difficult to go out into the world on your own because twins grow up used to having someone there, like it or not, to go through everything with them step by step and on their side. All of our life we grew up always referring to ourself as a collective "we". Only recently have I been able to start saying "me" or "I". I enjoy my time alone now but it did take some getting used to. My sister, on the other hand, is having trouble with it still like I did at first. Adjusting to the transition takes time and this is different for everyone. But knowing there is someone out there in this big, cold world that knows pretty much exactly what you're going through makes it a lot easier. I know if I need my sister, she lives right down the street. And if she ever needs me, I'm always right around the corner.

Post a Commenti have fraternal twins. they are 19 years old. my son is in college at home while my daughter is in another state. I see how difficult it is for each of them not to be near each other. when they were young they were always together, and while they talk every day its not the same. they were so much fun and such a joy. they are the youngest of 5 so it was always like a party
I'm an identical twin and we will be 50 in a few days. We are both married and are very close. We talk every day on the phone and spend almost every week-end together. We have already said that we want to live together again and we will some day. We hate leaving each other now, its hard. We hug each other close for a long time We both are married & both have two children. Her husband is having a hard time with us being so close. My husband has twin sisters so he understands. We have a older sister that we know has envied our relationship all her life. She can sometime be bitter about it as well. We try to be close to her but its not the same.

My twin and I went to separate colleges... I was devastated and cried the whole way when my parents dropped me off. I think you are right... it was hard to go it alone when you didn't have to before.
I have twin daughters and the bond is unimaginable! Nice article.
That's really cool!
