Twitter for Business - Tweet This!

Ranee Wright
The social networking site, Twitter, has been around since 2006 and has not made a dime - yet. A tweet is a miniature size blog, limited to 140 characters. Many people use twitter for business utilizing sites like HootSuite or Bit.ly to shorten links to their website.

I am surprised the network has not created a Twitter business plan until now. Twitter ads and search-word buying are included in Twitter's business plan. The affect this new Twitter for business will have on those of us who tweet will be positive and negative.

Twitter has not charged tweeters or utilized ads in the past but that is all about to change. Can you blame Twitter's CEO for implementing this business model? I think it is a reasonable and profitable plan. Millions of people tweet everyday. The Twitter business plan could make the CEO of Twitter a billionaire and experts predict revenue of 100 billion this year alone!

Twitter Business Plan Positives

The new Twitter business plan will implement promoted tweets, targeted ads and keyword-buying similar to that of Google. The new business model will positively affect the many people that use Twitter for business. If you buy Twitter ads, promote your tweets or buy keywords, you will be able to drive even more traffic to your site. You can expect see Twitter on the stock market in the future, which could certainly be a positive if you buy tweet stock.

Twitter Business Plan Negatives

Whenever a company implements a change many problems could be encountered that are unanticipated. These unforeseen issues would negatively affect those who tweet for business. Another negative is that when someone searches for a hashtag or keyword/phrase those that pay for Twitter ads will show up first. This will push your tweet down the list and decreases the chance of someone clicking your tweet.

I'm ok with ads when you search...but I'm not excited that they eventually plan to place ads in our home page feeds. Not cool Twitter. Not cool.
