So you are ready to take the leap into the wild world of social media. Twitter is a great way to get started.

Start twittering and you can double, even triple the amount of page views you get per article, but only if you use it correctly.

Start by setting up your twitter account. It is probably the easiest form you will ever fill out in your life. One thing you do want to do is carefully choose your twitter name. Don't use a name that no one will recognize like crazylady43, rather use a name that people will associate with you and your brand. Since your brand is your writing choosing the same name as you publish your articles under is your best bet.

Now you are ready to twitter. Twittering is simply writing quirky, funny 140 character tweets. You can tell people what you are eating (a twitter favorite), what you are doing, or what you have recently published.

Here is the trick. You need to provide engaging, interesting tweets to get people to want to follow you. You don't want to be a blatant self promoter only listing what articles you are writing. You want to tweet about thoughts, food, or funny quirky things and just sprinkle in an article once every twelve tweets or so.

After you have written a few tweets you will want to start gaining some followers. You can do this by inviting all your friends to check you out on twitter. You can put your twitter link on the bottom of your email signature, and you can list it on your blog.

To further expand your follower list you will want to start following people you find interesting. You can look at who your friends are following or look for people who are tweeting about things you find interesting. Once you start following these people will not necessarily follow you back. What you need to do to gain followers is comment. If a tweeter is asking a question you know the answer to tweet back at them and let them know. Its all about conversations on twitter. You want to be in as many twitter conversations as possible.

Responding to other peoples tweets will get them to see your twitter name, follow you, and tweet back.

Keeping your tweets funny and entertaining will encourage them to continue to follow you. When you decide every few days to link your article to your twitter name in a post they will be more likely to click on it. The more people who click, the more page views, and the more money you will make with AC.
