Twitter User Steven Holmes Doesn't like Being Followed by Kanye West

Former Twitter-hater Kanye West has done a 180 by joining Twitter himself. The sometimes controversial rapper is now posting under the verified account http://twitter.com/kanyewest.

Not surprisingly, Kanye West already has over 400,000 followers on Twitter.

The sometimes controversial rapper had previously spoken out against Twitter when users had created fake accounts under his name. As he blogged in 2009, "DON'T HAVE A F****** TWITTER... WHY WOULD I USE TWITTER??? I ONLY BLOG 5 PERCENT OF WHAT I'M UP TO IN THE FIRST PLACE."

He also took a jab at real-time communication users: "I'M ACTUALLY SLOW DELIVERING CONTENT BECAUSE I'M TOO BUSY ACTUALLY BUSY BEING CREATIVE MOST OF THE TIME AND IF I'M NOT AND I'M JUST LAYING ON A BEACH I WOULDN'T TELL THE WORLD. EVERYTHING THAT TWITTER OFFERS I NEED LESS OF."

Following in the footsteps of Conan O'Brien, Kanye West decided to follow one random user, Steven Holmes of Coventry, England. Many bloggers would welcome the attention that comes from being followed by West, but Holmes is not a happy camper.

As Steven Holmes tweeted, "This has been completely surreal and I really have no desire for this attention i'm just a normal person. I won't be speaking to anybody else, surprisingly not everyone wants to be famous. That's all I'm saying - peace out x"

And, just to clarify, he will not be speaking to any more journalists.

I guess I can't blame him for not wanting the attention, though I wonder if he's ever put himself in the shoes of celebrities. They have to deal with paparazzi, trolls, and Internet stalkers on a daily basis. In the grand scheme of things, having one Twitter follower by the name of Kanye West is really not all that bad.

Still, with all the privacy issues surrounding Facebook and Twitter, one can't blame Holmes for eschewing his newfound fame.
