Twitterverse: Oprah Winfery Joins the Twitter Craze

Twitter, Twitter, Twitter, that seems to be the word you hear more often than not these days with the celebrity and news organization influx to the site lately. Just last night, Ashton Kutcher and CNN's News Break fought out a battle to be the first Twitter user to break 1 million followers, with Ashton winning and in turn donating $100,000 to Malaria No More.

Now, we have the queen of the daytime talk shows, Oprah Winfrey joining in the fray and like many others, I will be following her to see her updates. But who will she be following? Among the people Oprah is following on Twitter you have Jimmy Fallon, her best friend Gayle King, George Stephanopoulos, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Now I can't help but wonder what Oprah tweets will be like. So far, her recent tweets seem to be the typical fumbling that newbies do

I ask you, though, folks, will you follow Oprah on Twitter? Will Oprah being on Twitter change the way Twitter is used? I have to say that it already has changed, especially with Ashton and CNN's race to 1 Million followers. Does it hurt the integrity of Twitter to have people like Oprah? I don't think so, I think it brings the celebrity population down off their pedestal and to a level where they are accessible, and where they can be human and vulnerable just like the rest of us.

Will you be one of the people following Oprah? Will she be the next one to break the 1 Million mark? Only time will tell about that, especially since she will be talking about Twitter live today on her Friday Live show. I can't wait until the end of the show to see what her numbers are at, especially since, from the looks of Oprah's tweets, the show has already been filmed for the day. Edit @ Midnight: At the end of the day, Oprah has only added one more person, Larry King, but has gained herself over 200,000 followers. One can't help but wonder how long it will take for her to catch up with Ashton, even though there is a movement to get people to unfollow anyone who follows Ashton and Oprah.
