Twizzlers Sweet & Sour Filled Twists Review

Amy Brantley
I've never been a huge fan of Twizzlers, yet I sometimes get a craving for them. I recently happened to get such a craving and while wondering down the candy aisle, I stumbled across Twizzlers Sweet & Sour Filled Twists. I had seen the commercial for this product and the candy looked tasty enough so I decided to give them a try. Would this Twizzlers product be any better than the rest or just another mediocre piece of licorice?

When I opened the bag, I went straight for the Cherry Kick flavored twist because I've never been a big fan of lemon flavored candies. I was pleased with how soft the licorice was. The outside of the Filled Twists reminded me of Twizzlers Pull 'n' Peel candy. It has a light cherry flavor, but the inside was what made all the difference. The squishy inside has a pop of tart cherry flavor. It isn't too sour or too sweet. The flavor is pretty much perfect. I have to say, I even liked the Citrus Punch flavor, which also had a nice tart punch of flavor.

A serving of Twizzlers Sweet & Sour Filled Twists is 2 pieces. This serving contains 140 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 1 gram of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans-fat, 0mg of cholesterol, 80mg of sodium, 30 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, 20 grams of sugar and 1 gram of protein. For my fellow Weight Watchers members, that's a PointsPlus value of 4.

At the moment, Cherry Kick and Citrus Punch seem to be the only flavors available. Hopefully, Hershey's will decide to expand this line and offer several more flavors. As it stands, I give this product 4 out of 5 stars. In my opinion, it's the best Twizzlers product to hit the market. It's low in fat, has a great flavor and the texture is perfect. The only thing missing is more flavors, which I'm sure we'll see in the near future. Until then, I highly recommend trying this treat. If you love soft, chewy candy with a punch of flavor, you'll love this candy.
