I'm smoking both of them making believe that one is for you.
Two cigarettes in an ashtray--
One is pointed toward me and the other one that way.
Still, I know that you are gone and for good this time.
I'm playing the jukebox one lonely song at a time.
'Cause since you're gone--
My life's not worth a solitary dime.
Here I sit in this lonely cafe smoking two cigarettes out of one ashtray.
I know they are bad for my health,
And the sooner I am gone the better.
I can't stand the thought of of me here without you.
Now you're with Slim
I don't know why you chose him over me.
I do know that is why I am so sad and lonely.
I based this on Patsy Cline's song Three Cigarettes in An Ashtray. I love her songs and her singing. I don't know if she is the one that wrote the song, but she did a great job singing this one as she did most of the songs that she sang. She was one of my favorites, and still is for that matter. Just because someone leaves this earth behind doesn't make me leave their singing behind for someone else's. Patsy died in a plane crash in 1962 or 1963 for some reason I have a hard time remembering which one it was. You were great Patsy as any Country Music fan knows.

Post a CommentThanks all! I really didn't know what kind of reception this one would get considering how some folks feel about smoking, but just so you know I quit smoking the last day of 1987. Thanks again. Johnny
