Two Contestants Were Eliminated from American Idol's Top 11

March 31, 2011's elimination episode of American Idol was a hard one for the contestants. Since the judges used their one save on Casey Abrams on the March 24th episode, two contestants would be eliminated. Season three winner, Fantasia, returned to perform her latest single. Will.i.am and Jamie Foxx also performed their single from the new movie Rio.

The group performance this week was different-there wasn't one. Thank God! The contestants did mini groups instead of one big group performance, and were told results after their performances. I really liked this new set up, and hope they continue this throughout the season.

Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery sang the duet "I Told You So" by Randy Travis and Carrie Underwood. They did an amazing job. What an awesome duet! These two should most definitely be in the finals-at least top 4! Both of them were safe.

Naima Adedapo and Jacob Lusk performed their duet next, "Solid" by Ashford and Simpson. I don't know the song, but they did well. It was boring, but their voices weren't nearly as bad as they usually are. Naima was in the bottom three, and Jacob was safe for another a week.

Fantasia sang her latest, "Collard Greens and Cornbread" next. She sounded even worse than when she was a contestant. Is that even possible? And she didn't look good either. Her dress was too tight and her hair was too high. What a boring performance. I was more awake during Thia Megia's performances than Fantasia's.

Up next was a trio of Haley Reinhart, Thia Megia, and Pia Toscano, singing "Teenage Dreams" by Katy Perry. Haley was horrible and messed up on some lyrics, not surprisingly. Pia was amazing! She sure can do more than ballads. Thia looked like she was having fun for once, but didn't get a solo part. I wonder why. Pia and Haley were safe for another week. Thia was next to be part of the bottom three.

Paul McDonald, Casey Abrams, Stefano Langone, and James Durbin were last, with their in house band. They sang "Band on the Run". They weren't all that great all together, though I love them all separately. Sorry guys. Casey was first to be told he's safe, followed by James and Stefano. Paul was in the bottom three.

Jamie Foxx and will.i.am performed their song "Hot Wings" from the new animated movie Rio. It was a big production with lots of feathered bird like dancers and drummers all over the stage and audience. The dancing was good, and I'm sure the song fits with the movie but I didn't love it.

Thia, Naima, and Paul made up the bottom three. Only one would be told they were safe for another week, so there were a little less dramatics for the results. Paul was safe, which meant Naima and Thia were sent home. I'm still really happy about that, since I really couldn't stand another week of their performances.

According to @maskedscheduler on Twitter, next week's theme will be "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame". Season 4's Constantine Maroulis will be performing. And we all heard from Pia that next week she'll be singing "River Deep Mountain High".
