Two Cut Up Poems - AC's National Poetry Month Challenge

The Song of Innocence and a Longing for Love

Teresa Mahieu
My first cut up poem.

The Song of Innocence

A blind child and a deaf child
And their angel three,
Together sang a song to a ghost;
A precious sight to see.

A second cut up poem for your reading pleasure.

A Longing for Love

Lady moon father sun comes my way -

Guide me this peaceful calm night,

To the dark man in the moon I look to see;

Watching over me this still night he causes me no fright.

Send me my beautiful lady moon, my shining star;

And if any harm should come this night,

Father Sun will refresh me with his morning light.

Note:Todays National Poetry Month Challenge is to write a cutup poem. This style of poetry was discovered by Brion Gisyn and made famous by William Burroughs. I chose to cutup two of my own copyrighted poems and see what I could make of them. To see the original poem "Innocence" click here. To see the original poem "Lady Moon" click here.

    Melissa, I did not like the cutup process at all. I really had a hard time cutting up and rearranging the first on "Innocence" most of all.

    After reading this I went to read the origional poems - great work, I am not a fan of the cut up style (aparently), but I really like the origionals "Lady Moon" and "innocence"
