To establish routines that will fit into any schedule each routine can be broken down into 3 categories, The Home, The Family and Yourself. Compile a list of tasks the should be done each evening and morning, it may help to keep them in an order of when they need to be completed. Complete tasks for yourself last in the PM routine as a treat and first in the AM routine so you are prepared to help everyone else.
The PM routine will lend itself to be one of the important times of the day. Getting things done in the evening will eliminate the unnecessary stress in the morning. This routine should include all straightening up, putting away everything that was used or brought into the home and gathering everything that will be needed tomorrow. When creating routines, include tasks that focus on the three categories. Light weekly chores could also be added to minimize the work on the weekends. Try to spread out daunting tasks such as the laundry or dusting on each day.
The AM routine would then be considered time for preparing for the day. During the PM routine the house was straightened up and ready for the new day, this AM routine includes tasks to keep everything flowing through out the day. Such items would be emptying the dishwasher, thawing out dinner, and getting the To Do list handy. Again, adding small chores will help eliminate those done on the weekend.
These two routines will help out any home. Make two separate checklists and keep them handy for quick reference. Sharing these lists with the family will allow them to see what changes you are wanting to make around the house. Though it may take a little bit to get used to these new routines, the main key is to go to bed and get up at the same time every night. Laying a solid foundation with two main routines will increase the success of completing other regular tasks. Not only will they give you focus but may also lead to freeing up time to get even more things accomplished.
