Two Different Ways to Make Coffee Pods

We all enjoy coffee and there are times we want a cup, but do not want to make a full pot. Enter in the single cup coffee maker. Most single coffee makers (such as Senseo) make a cup of coffee in less than three minutes. They are a great machine and simple to use, but the coffee pods that are used can become expensive. With the help of Ehow and www.ineedcoffee.com, this article shows two different ways to make your own coffee pods using your favorite brand of coffee and a few household items.

Version One:

Materials: (1) a glass that fits inside the pod holder; (2) tea filter bags. These can be found at a local health food store or online at such places like www.shopstashtea.com where you can purchase a hundred for about four dollars; (3) your favorite blend of ground coffee; (4) 1/3 cup measuring cup; and (5) an iron. If you are a crafter or happen to know a crafter, the little crafting iron works great for this application.

To Make the Pod: (1) using the glass, trace two circles onto the tea bag and cut out with scissors; (2) with the iron set on a silk setting [or the small crafting iron], seal the edges leaving a small opening at the top; (3) with funnel, pour in coffee [you can use or more less to your taste]; (4) seal opening with iron.

Version Two:

Materials: (1) Coffee filter [four to five cup capacity]; (2) your favorite blend of ground coffee; (3) stainless steel measuring cup that fits inside the pod holder; and (4) a glass that fits inside the measuring cup.

To Make the Pod: (1) place the coffee filter inside the measuring cup, making sure that the bottom is smooth and flat; (2) place desired amount of coffee [most single coffee maker pots used about seven ounces of coffee per pod]; (3) gently fold top of filter over coffee. In needed trim excess filter with a pair of scissors; (4) with glass, insert into measuring cup onto of coffee and press firmly to compact the coffee; (5) carefully slid out pod, by tilting the measuring cup. It should be noted that when using this method to create a coffee pod, make sure that the smooth bottom is placed on the bottom of the coffee pod hold so the coffee will not end up in your cup.

There you have it, two simple ways to prepare your own coffee pods. Now you can have your favorite cup of coffee at anytime of the day.
