Two Dogs Thrown from Overpass

They Are Banged Up, but They Will Be Ok!

When I heard a short preview of this story, I thought I heard wrong. The second and third times I heard it, it I knew it must be true, but it was hard to get more information, and hard to believe what I had heard. Now that I've seen the two dogs on the news last night, and they are on their way to recovering from this, more details have unfolded.

Rossville, Georgia - Almost a week ago, Inez Castleberry, an employee, at the Animal Medical Center of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, spotted a man and a dog on the roadway. She was on her way to work. She stopped and asked what happened, she assumed the dog had been hit by a car. The man, who is still unidentified, said he saw someone throw two dogs off of the overpass. Castleberry, unfortunately, didn't get the man's name. She was more concerned about getting the dog to the vet's office for treatment.

One dog had to undergo surgery. The dogs didn't look too bad on the news last night, all things considered. They both still limp and they look like they have been through hell and back. When they were first taken to the vet's office they were hurt and confused. Hopefully, they will make a full recovery, including being able to trust humans again.

They are both rescue dogs that were adopted by Eric Christian. The dogs are named Hooper and Dakota. Eric told investigators that he believes his neighbor is responsible for throwing the dogs off of the overpass. The neighbor, Deanna Leamon, has a car that looks similar to the description given by a witness. Evidentially, there is an on-going feud between the neighbors. Leamon says she would never hurt an animal.

The man in the road who was with the dog initially is still unidentified. He is the key to finding out who threw the dogs onto the highway. If anyone has information regarding this case please contact the local authorities in Catoosa County, GA.

How horribly sad. I just don't understand how someone can do this to another living being. Last year, my city had a man angry at his girlfriend throw her BABY out of the car. The baby died. He was convicted of murder.

What is wrong with people!!!!!!! I'm glad the dogs are okay and not with that idiot any longer, whoever he is. I hope they catch him and throw him off a bridge.

How awful! Thank goodness the animals are okay (but, yeah, it might take them awhile to trust people again).

How can anyone even THINK of wanting to hurt an animal?! This is just incomprehensible.
