Two Four Letter Words

April Higney
A single four-letter word,
representing a beautiful emotion, devotion,
it captures so much attention,
yet a single world, so many mention.
Love

But this single word can flow off the tongue so easily,
without sometimes much of a thought of the emotion that it was meant to be.

Another single four-letter word,
meaning the exact opposite, emotion of such dismay.
A shock upon the ear at which we turn our ear,
at such a single word one may say.
Hate

But this single word can flow off the tongue so quickly,
without sometimes much of a thought, repercussions in emotion, we cannot see.

Two four letter words,
representing an opposite view.
If we never knew of the pains of hate, how could we ever understand love
enough to find balance, in the midst of the two.
