Helvetia Tavern
The Helvetia Tavern is a small place hidden just past the railroad trestle on NW Helvetia Rd. One side is the tavern the other a small restaurant. Many travelers, and visitors make comments regarding how off the beaten path the Helvetia Tavern sits.
Menu items include the Jumbo Burger; this burger is large enough for two and sometimes even three patrons. One great thing at the Helvetia Tavern is that no menu item is over $10.00. Another one of the Helvetia Taverns menu greats is the French Fries, large order or ½ order and believe me when I say a ½ order is enough for a table of four adults.
The Tavern area of Helvetia Tavern services the usual beer and wine along with local Microbrews such as MacTarnahan's Amber, Deschutes Brewery Mirror Pong, Black Butte Porter and Fat Tire Amber.
No reservations are necessary at this quaint Tavern in a beautiful country setting. Come on along and fill up on some great food.
Another one of Portland's best-kept secret hamburger places lies a little closer to the city.
Wichita Pub
Located in Clackamas Oregon the Wichita Pub is closer to us city dwellers who just want a burger on a work night. Located at 11481 SE Highway 212 in Clackamas, the Wichita Pub doesn't require reservations, however, it may be a short wait for a table on a Friday or Saturday night.
Menu items range from appetizers of nachos to the Wichita Burger. Not as cheaply priced as the Helvetia Tavern, the Wichita Pub does have menu items over $10.00 however; those items are some of the best tasting on the menu. Along with their famous burgers and fries the Wichita Pub offers salads, Taco salads, steak dinners, cold sandwiches like the club or BLT. Breakfast is served at the Wichita Pub also and one can fill up on bacon, ham, and eggs or some of the biggest best omelets in the Portland area.
Both of these fantastic burger places are easy to get too and serve some of the best foods in the Portland area.
