The popular television sitcom "Two and a Half Men" hangs in limbo awaiting a sober return by the show's main actor, Charlie Sheen. Hundreds of articles and videos have surfaced in the weeks since Sheen was rushed to the hospital and began an at-home treatment program. The enigmatic star's teeth have even become a popular topic on fan forums and celebrity gossip websites. Superstar father, Martin Sheen, recently went on the record about his son's actions and condition.

"He's an extraordinary man. If he had cancer, how would we treat him? The disease of addiction is a form of cancer," the elder Sheen told news media outlets.

Tabloid print and online magazines are constantly updating the latest supposed antics and accusations about television's highest paid actor. Even if you have a moral opposition to Charlie Sheen's excessive and erotic lifestyle, he deserves props for his honesty. Unlike chastised politicians, Sheen has not attempted to hide his love of pornography and hookers or offer some lame excuse when caught on tape in naughty scenarios.

Sheen has stated in interviews and text messages to online celebrity websites that he feels badly for causing a delay on the show and the financial woes it may have caused the crew. Even while partying hard, Sheen showed up on-set and taped shows which entertained the fans.

Charlie's past history with substance abuse and accusations from the women in his life have caused concern for his family. In 1990 then-girlfriend and actress Kelly Preston bowed out of the relationship after Sheen allegedly shot her in the arm. In 2006, actress and then-love interest Denise Richards took out a restraining order against Sheen after she claimed he threatened to kill her. In 2010 he was convicted for assaulting his third wife, Brooke Mueller.

"People need to understand how supremely grateful I am that someone stepped in here. I don't want to say who, but you know, basically, Viacom showed up at my house and said 'Dude, it's getting really obvious and we're really worried about you. We don't give a rat's tooey about the show, we care about you and your health.'" Sheen recently stated on the Dan Patrick show.

Taping is slated to resume on Feb. 28. Although eight more episodes were supposed to have been filmed after Christmas, only four more are projected to occur.
