The latest news is that the Charlie Sheen rant, posted here by TMZ, led to disaster for his CBS show. In fact, "Two and a Half Men" was cancelled for the rest of the season. It appears that Charlie Sheen said some pretty damning things about the show creator Chuck Lorre-and even challenged the guy to a fight.
CBS wasn't too happy with the latest Charlie Sheen distraction and shut down production-in essence the season of "Two and a Half Men" has been canceled.
So is this the absolute end for "Two and a Half Men"? It seems kind of unlikely that the show was on a good course to begin with. Now, Sheen has thrown gas on the fire and it seems inevitable that the show will be canceled for good. The self destructive recent behavior of Sheen might also hurt his own career in Hollywood.
Hollywood has been quick to forgive drug addicts before. Guys like Robert Downey have certainly pulled off a drastic turnaround by becoming sober. But how will Charlie Sheen be able to recover from this latest rant that included verbal abuse to a writer? Will Hollywood producers quit casting the guy in shows? Maybe the best thing for Sheen is to have a huge reality check. Apparently it wasn't enough for him to go through the alleged trials of his recent romps at hotels with porn stars.
The whole situation is unfolding in such a horrible way that CBS probably had no other option than to call it quits.
Charlie Sheen forced the hand of the network with his rant against Chuck Lorre. Lorre has fired back a bit at Sheen-the latest on an episode of Mad Men. Lorre just basically said if Charlie Sheen does outlive him then he'll be a little upset(you can read the story here on TMZ). Maybe the two have joined forces to stir up a bit more publicity for the show-although it seems like this type of negative publicity couldn't be a good thing. But the battle of words seems like a bad WWE fight gone worse. There seems to be a little more sarcasm than truth in the war or words-but there must be some legitimacy because it led to what has happened currently--"Two and a Half Men" has been cancelled.
I'm sure Hollywood writers and film makers are anxiously plotting to pen the "real life" story of Charlie Sheen. The actor is becoming a little too interesting these days-and I'm sure that kind of stuff will make for good movies on down the line. The sad news for "Two and a Half Men" fans is that will be of little consolation to those who are going to miss the show now that it has been derailed by silliness and a lack of apparent maturity.
