Two Man Band Rocks the House: Priceless Enuendo is a Local Favorite!

A Girl Who No Longer Exists
Two-man band Priceless Enunedo dispels the myth that it takes three or more to rock the house -- and, in this case, the house happens to be Arlington's Thomas Jefferson Community Center (3501 2nd Street S. Arlington, VA 22204/703-228-5920). Josh Teodoro and Zeke Gough of Nokesville, Va. have a history of shaking up the Saturday night life at TJ's Band Night and intend to play in Alexandria this fall or early winter.

With a cool, upbeat sound reminiscent of the Strokes, MeWithoutYou, Kings of Leon and The White Stripes, Zeke's masterful drums and Josh's striking guitar/vocals have stunned the TJ crowd with their original songs "Neighborhood Make-believe," "Knitting Sweaters," "Her Smile," "Nameless Fools," and "Pick Boy," as well as with a few covers from the White Stripes, such as "Black Math" and "I Think I Smell a Rat."

Josh and Zeke first met each other at their elementary school in Nokesville, but didn't become close friends until ninth grade when they both were being home-schooled. Conveniently living just down the road from each other, they started skateboarding and listening to music together. Their hang-outs were transformed when Zeke came over to Josh's one day and started playing Josh's father's drums. Josh was impressed and decided to resurrect the broken dream he and his older brother Paul had of starting their own band.

Zeke and Josh's first song was "Pegboard Memories," which also happens to be one of their best because of its simple, catchy lyrics and edgy tune. Originally the song stood at a mere one minute and three seconds, but just as the Beatles lengthened their songs from the average one-minute wonder to five-minute masterpieces with guitar rifts, Priceless Enuendo extended "Pegboard Memories" to nearly four minutes -- an accomplishment for which they are rightfully proud.

According to Josh, he and Zeke "didn't really think that [playing in a band] would go anywhere ... But Bobby Another great Priceless Enuendo's song is "Her Smile," which has some wonderful poetic lyrics. Hopelessly romantic without sacrificing their trademark edge, Priceless Enuendo opens the song with "She's like a story that I can't tell/I know she's there/She's like the water inside the well/Tracing with her stare." During their two performances at TJ last year, this was the one song that hushed the crowd, which seemed transfixed by the tender words of a teenager in love.

Priceless Enuendo has already assembled a small fan club in Arlington and these guys are sure to snag at least a few more when they play in Alexandria in the future.
