We walked into a brick building among a lot of brick buildings. This area was a warehouse and it has been gentrified beautifully. There was more brick inside and I saw a room full of colorful designs and a busy bar. Pipes hung below the wall I think more for effect than necessity. The tables were set up nicely with cloth napkins and the California style of putting paper over the table cloth. Candles sat on each table. The tables were far enough from one another to have a conversation without being overheard. Colorful low hanging lights and the fish motif on the walls completed the lovely décor of RooBar.
Our waitress was excellent being very attentive and eager to please. We started with delicious onion bread with oil and garlic in which to dip it. She quickly got more when we finished that serving of bread.
The draw for us on this particular Sunday is their buy one pizza and get one free every Sunday except on holiday weekends. Their pizzas are pricey so getting a two for one makes eating out affordable.
My husband and I shared an eggplant with tomato, caramelized onion, boursin and mozzarella cheese ($13.00) and a Greek veggie which was a white pizza (no tomato sauce) with grilled zucchini, feta cheese, artichoke hearts, marinated tomatoes and caramelized onions (hold the olives on one side) also for $13.00. What a bargain that was but it wouldn't be if the pizzas were not good. They are great. The crust at the outer edge is very thin and crispy. You'll get a good view of the crust in one of my pictures.
RooBar also serves a dozen appetizers in the $9.00 range such as Fried calamari; pasta in the $15/$24 range (two sized portions) such as lobster ravioli, salads, entrees (about $22.00), and sandwiches.
