Two Sides, One Reality

I drink to escape reality.
You judge me
Because my life is not a natural high.

I have an addiction to roaming the streets.
You call me out of my name
But you don't really know who I am.

I'm a player by day but loner at night.
You act surprised
But after all the sex the thrill is gone.

I'm an independent woman and not an educated fool.
You say, I should learn to submit or I'll never marry
But you have no idea the pressure that popular opinion carries.

I'm tough and my manner is rough.
But if I act sensitive
You'll question my manhood and won't respect me.

I'm rich and famous.
And the window of opportunity is always open.
But if I get irate with paparazzi for invading my privacy
You'll say, "I am too outspoken."

I'm in the minority
And I don't desire to fit in with the majority.
But you say I'm a troublemaker
Because I've haven't learned to assimilate.

I'm a victim of a system
That doesn't care whether or not I succeed.
Rather than lend me a helping hand
You just say, "I am lazy and will never achieve."

As I take off my blindfolds
I realize there are two sides of a story
Within every reality that I see.
