Two Steppin' at Big Texas

Learning to Two Step

Baema
I had always wanted to learn to do the two step and be able to do it right at country and western dances. I had taken classes about 8 years ago with my now ex-wife at a large dance studio in Houston, Texas but never really learned much more than the basic two step without any of the fancy maneuvers. My new girlfriend, who has turned out to be a great dancer, invited me to take lessons again and we both signed up for classes given by a wonderful teacher named Pat at the All Dance Studio located in the outlet mall in LaMarque, Texas. We have only been to 4 classes and can already do turns, spins, and the promenade which I enjoy immensely. There are so many other steps and maneuvers to learn that we plan on signing up for an intermediate class coming up soon. and hopefully someday will be real pros.

Now we needed a place to practice our new dance steps and found a great dance hall and saloon called "Big Texas". The facility located at 803 Nasa Road 1 in Webster, Texas was nearest to our home and just a "two step" away. Getting there on a Friday night before 8 will get you in without a cover charge and happy hour lasts until closing which is around 2am even though I'm sure liquor is not served probably after 1am or so. A variey of country music is played usually by a dj, however live bands do perform there from time to time for an admission charge of course. Free dance lessons are also offered on Friday evenings from
6-7 as the doors open at 5pm for those wanting to start the weekend off early. Saturday nights you can enter without a cover charge until 9 but drinks will cost you more after 9 as happy hour is only from 7 until 9, unlike Fridays when one can get happy until closing at a reduced price. The place is fun and a great place to dance with your partner and mingle with friends. Yee-Haw!!!!!

Baema--Enjoyed the article and welcome to AC from another Texan! My husband and I met and began our relationship on the dance floor. We regret that places to dance in our area are on the decline. We both are non-smokers and I have an allergy to dust and tobacco and that makes it difficult to find a good place to dance.
