Two Useful Purse Accessories

It's in the Bag and on the Hook

Annette Robbins
Women everywhere know the ritual of "changing purses" and the sinking feeling we experience when we realize that we left a desired item in the "other purse" while transferring its contents. You know the drill, ladies, we are going out and we start the "changing of the purse" routine. Money, make-up, cell phones, keys and a myriad of other items are changed from purse to purse, day to day, week to week.

I was browsing through a mail order catalog I received and a purse organizer insert ad caught my attention. The purse organizer resembled a soft fabric clutch bag in which you place keys, cell phone, credit cards and other paraphernalia in individual pockets and slots. After placing your desired items into the clutch organizer, you then place the clutch organizer as a unit into your purse. In one fell swoop, you have all of your needed items at your fingertips with no confusing array of items to sort through to locate your item of interest. No more frantically digging in your purse to retrieve your cell phone as it rings incessantly awaiting your answer. Simply reach into the purse organizer and grasp your phone. When you are ready to change purses, you can transfer the purse organizer, contents and all, to your desired purse. The purse organizer is a useful item that can bring a disordered purse in line in short order!

The purse organizer can be ordered through mail catalogs or online retailers such as Amazon.com or silverhooks.com. Undoubtedly, retail stores have them also in stock. If you write the keywords purse caddy, purse organizer, purse hook into the Search box you will receive many results detailing places to purchase these items. For both of these items, the cost can range as low as $5-$10. Of course, you can find these items in the higher price range too.The purse organizer makes an excellent gift for your female friends and relatives and you just may be tempted to buy one for yourself.

Another useful fashion accessory is the purse hook or purse caddy. However, don't let the name fool you into thinking the purse hook is only for purses. It can be a useful item to hold light sweaters or bags. Generally, a purse hook is a hook that has a circular or rectangular decorative top with a magnet hidden on its underside which is attached to a hook. It is a handy device because you place your sweater, purse, small shopping bag, etc onto the hook and place the hook onto the table or counter top leaving you hands free or lap free. I first saw the purse hook or purse caddy as it is sometimes called when I was attending a class. I noticed another student had her purse hanging from a hook which freed up table space. It is a dandy device that is usually foldable and can be packed away in a pouch which is often included as part of your purchase and easily transported in your purse for use when you need it. When dining out, attending lectures, or events the purse caddy frees up space and allows you to keep a watchful eye on your purse without hanging it over the back of your chair which can be an open invitation to theft. Using a purse hook or purse caddy allows you to handle weights of up to approximately 15 lbs. An appealing feature of the purse hook is it can be used to hang your personal items such as a lightweight sweater or jacket, hat or small briefcase or shopping bag. I purchased purse hooks as gifts for all of my sisters and they report the purse hook to be quite practical. As with purse organizers, purse hooks or purse caddies are marvelous and practical gifts. I carry my purse caddy in my purse wherever I go.

So, ladies, organize that purse and hang your purse with ease and comfort with these inexpensive but practical fashion accessories.

Lord knows I need the purse organizer. I can imagine the hook or caddy can keep you from putting your purse on the floor, too, where there's a chance it could be infected with germs.

Thank you Annette for addressing that old infamous unorganized purse. It really seems like a great thing to have. The idea of the purse caddy intrigues me too. These are gifts that most women would be sure to love.
