Two Valentine Cards for Kids to Make for Free

V. L. Hamlin
Kids love to give their own cards for Valentine's Day, especially to classmates and friends. Give out homemade Valentines this year, instead of buying pre-made cards at the store. Offer the kids a selection of craft supplies, use whatever supplies you have available. Let each of your kids get creative and decorate their own Valentine cards for friends in school, siblings, Aunts and Uncles, Grandma, Grandpa or even Mom and Dad.

Supplies Needed:
Pencil
Small paper plates
Scissors
Red acrylic/craft paint
Pink or white card stock
Liquid glue
Markers/crayons/colored pencils
Paper doilies
Scissors

3-D Heart Cards

Use a pencil to draw a heart shape on the inside of a small paper plate, making sure to draw the heart all the way to the edges of the plate. Cut out the heart using sharp scissors.

Paint the cut out heart with red acrylic paint or craft paint. Allow time for the paint to dry as directed on the packaging.

Fold a sheet of pink or white card stock in half to create a card. Feel free to position the card in a portrait or landscape design, as desired.

Place a few drops of liquid glue on the back of your heart, near the center. Paste the heart in the center of the card stock, leaving the top and bottom of the heart floating freely.

Write a short poem, saying or quote on the card using markers, crayons or colored pencils.

Lacy Love Cards

Fold a sheet of pink or white card stock in half. Position the card horizontally or vertically, depending on your choice.

Fold a circle shaped paper doily in half. Add a few drops of liquid glue to the inside of the folded doily. Position the doily over the folded edge of the card stock and press down to adhere the glue.
Draw a heart on a new sheet of pink or white card stock. Cut the heart out of the card stock. Place a few drops of glue on one side of the heart. Press the heart to the center of the front of the card. Draw an outline around the edge of the heart using a marker or colored pencil.

Use markers, crayons or colored pencils to write a note, poem, quote or saying on the inside of the card.
