Decoupaged Vintage Valentine Centerpiece
Supplies:
- Scissors
- Vintage floral design wrapping paper
- Modge Podge
- Small flower pot
- Pink dried florals
- Floral foam
- Foam brush
- Gloss varnish
- Paint brush
Directions:
- Wash and dry your flower pot. Cut a strip from the wrapping paper that fits around the pot. Also, cut the paper slightly longer in height than the pot.
- Place your pot on a covered work area. Carefully rub Modge Podge on the front and back of the paper piece.
- Wrap the piece of vintage paper around the pot. Gently dab a lightly damp sponge over the paper piece to help secure it to the pot. This also helps to remove any air bubbles. Fold the top of the paper over the rim, and to the inside of the pot for a clean finish. Fold and gather the paper to the bottom of the pot. If there is a lot of paper, trim off most of the excess in order to have a smooth bottom. I also use my fingers to help smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles. Let dry.
- Check the paper to make sure there are no loose ends. If there are, reapply the Modge Podge on the loose ends. Let dry.
- Generously paint a clear coat of varnish over the entire pot. Let dry. I usually paint an extra coat of varnish to give my vintage-inspired piece extra shine.
- Glue a piece of floral foam inside the pot.
- Cut flowers so that they hit just over the edge of the flower pot. Stick the flowers into the foam.
This vintage-inspired Valentine's Day piece can be used to decorate your home year round. Make a few of these centerpieces, then place them across your fireplace mantle.
