Two Weeks Notice is a Romantic Comedy Even Guys Can Watch

Allen Shaw
Sandra Bullock has returned to the form that made her a star---the romantic comedy. Next to Julia Roberts, and most recently, Reese Witherspoon, nobody can pull off a romantic comedy any better than Bullock. And with her third release of the year, Two Weeks Notice---who even remembers the joke of a murder mystery, Murder By Numbers and the emasculating drivel of the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood---Bullock has returned to form. I still haven't forgiven James Garner for playing a wienie in Ya-Ya.

Bullock teams up with Hugh Grant in this story about an eccentric millionaire, played by Hugh Grant, who can't even decide what tie to wear without the help of his chief counsel-slash-personal assistant, played by the lovely Bullock herself. The one-liners abound and you may have to see it more than once to catch all the jokes. But two of the funniest scenes are not even in the movie. Bullock, who also executive produced Two Weeks Notice, decided to join on the bandwagon of other major releases that tease the audience with funny scenes in the trailers then drop the scenes on the cutting room floor for the final cut.

Two Weeks has something for everyone---the shallow, smart aleck millionaire that every guy wishes he was, and the irritating nag of a female lead that you can't help falling in love with. Bullock has perfected the character of the girl you hate to love. Just rent Forces of Nature and 28 Days to see for yourself.

Guys, don't worry. This is one romantic comedy you won't hate when your significant other makes you rent this at the DVD store. I am granting Two Weeks Notice three-out-four stars. Two Weeks Notice is rated P-G-13.
